After just a few curls, most find that the conical wand is actually much easier to use and with dramatically better results. I would, however, not recommend allowing young girls to use it, even if they are familiar with using a traditional curling iron, unless under very close supervision because of the extreme heat.

My daughters have very different hair types and the HerStyler™ Conical Wand is great for both of them. My youngest daughter’s hair is naturally stick-straight, no wave or curl to speak of. If I curl her hair with a regular curling iron, the curls last for all of 3 minutes if that. If I use the HerStyler Conical Wand, however, the curls last all day!

My oldest daughter’s hair has just enough natural curl to not be straight, but isn’t really curly either. If I curl her hair with a traditional curling iron it looks okay for most of the day. A friend told me about this amazing new styling tool that her hair-dresser used on her daughter’s hair and I knew I wanted one right away. I found myself Googling around online trying to figure out what it was called so I could purchase one! Hours later, I found myself on Amazon.com™ with a few choices in front of me, one of which was the HerStyler™ Conical Wand which has 3 different interchangeable barrels so that you can use the same wand to achieve different results. That made it a better value than the other brands offered at the time. I paid about $40 for mine. It has since gone up to $100, then back down to $60. The other brands available (all single-barrel) include Babyliss™, LeAngelique™, and more, all of which sold for under $100. Recently, some U.S. brands such as Remington™ and Conair™ have started making a very affordable (also single barrel) version for around $30 that can be found in big box stores such as Wal-Mart™ The important thing is to buy a conical wand that is ceramic and has the right size barrel for the size of curl you want to achieve. Be sure that your wand comes with a glove or that you purchase one separately. The bottom line is that conical wands don’t have to be expensive if you know what you are looking for and where to look.
